How long has ACT•1 been in business?

ACT•1 was founded in 1978. To date, we are one of the largest, certified, woman minority-owned staffing services in the United States.

What kind of employment does ACT•1 provide?

ACT•1 is a full-service employment firm. That means we offer job seekers the full range of opportunities: temporary, temp-to-perm, and direct hire placements.

Why is ACT•1 different from other employment agencies?

We are one of the few services that offer both direct hire and temporary placement. More importantly, however, we understand that our employees are every bit as important to us as our clients. We recognize that our own distinguished employees are the best source for attracting more talented people and we value our relationships with each and every applicant.

How much does it cost me to use your employment services?

There is never any cost or fee to our applicants and employees.

If the company has to pay you, doesn't that mean I make less?

Not at all. The costs for a company to advertise, recruit, interview, screen, test, and hire an applicant can range in the tens of thousands of dollars. Because of our streamlined management system, ACT•1 is able to process these things cheaper and more efficiently than an employer can. The employer in turn pays us for the money and time saved.

Additionally, when representing you for employment opportunities, our account executives work diligently to promote your marketable skills and career goals. Therefore they are able to negotiate the highest level of pay possible.

I only want temporary (or part-time) work, can I still use ACT•1?

Absolutely. ACT•1 has many part-time/temporary positions available in a variety of job classifications and with a wide-range of clients including Fortune 500 companies.

What types of positions does ACT•1 have available?

ACT•1 specializes in placing administrative, clerical, accounting, finance, medical, and travel positions. We also have specialized divisions that offer career opportunities specifically in the Technical and Entertainment industries.

What kind of pay can I expect?

Each job is unique and pay levels are the result of many factors, including job location, potential for future job growth, education, job skills, and experience. Our Account Executives stay informed as to current salary levels and are experts in negotiating the best possible rate for you.

How would I get paid?

If you were placed in a direct hire position as an employee of one of our client companies, that company would pay you the same way they pay all their employees. If you were working in a temporary or temp-to-perm position, you would be placed on our ACT•1 payroll, and would be paid weekly throughout the length of the assignment. Temporary employees on long-term assignments expected to last at least 5 months are eligible to receive their pay via direct deposit.

Are temporary associates offered any type of benefit program?

Yes. ACT•1 provides our temporary associates with a complete menu of limited individual benefits including:

What is ACT•1's hiring procedure?

When you apply to ACT•1, you will complete an application and then be tested on your measurable skills that may include typing speed, data entry, spelling, bookkeeping, and knowledge of various software programs. An account executive will then interview you to review your work experience and background, as well as to learn about your individual desires and career goals. After the interview, we will then evaluate the best possible scenario to match your needs with those of our clients.

How does ACT•1 screen its applicants?

Beyond interviews and skills testing, ACT•1 conducts our own thorough, in-house, education and employment verification check for each of our applicants. Some companies require additional screening and background checks and those requirements would also need to be satisfied before you were sent on assignment.

This is a very thorough process so you should expect to spend about two hours with your Account Executive.
